About the Role

The Human Resources Manager is a strategic, hands-on HR leader responsible for supporting 3–5 extruded plastics manufacturing sites within a defined region. This role partners closely with plant and executive leadership to align people practices with operational goals, strengthen leadership capability, and ensure consistent, compliant HR execution across all locations.

This position is ideal for an HR professional who values visibility on the plant floor and can balance strategic leadership with practical, relationship-driven execution in a family-owned environment.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

Strategic HR Partnership

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to plant managers and executive leadership
  • Translate business and production goals into practical, people-centered HR strategies
  • Use workforce data and experience to guide sound decision-making
  • Participation in developing organizational guidelines and procedures
  • Design and implement performance management systems inclusive of performance against goals and periodic performance reviews

Regional HR Leadership

  • Lead HR activities across 3–5 extruded plastics manufacturing sites
  • Drive consistency and standardization of HR policies, practices, and processes
  • Support sustainable growth while respecting site-level needs and company values

 

Employee Relations & Leadership Coaching

  • Manage employee relations matters with fairness, consistency, and discretion
  • Coach leaders on performance management, accountability, and effective people leadership
  • Maintain a positive, compliant, work environment

Talent & Workforce Strategy

  • Develop processes and a network that accelerates the identification, hiring, and on boarding of employees to sustain growth
  • Lead regional recruiting strategies for hourly and salaried roles
  • Partner with operations leaders on workforce planning to support production demands
  • Strengthen onboarding, retention, and internal talent development
  • Serve as benefits administrator to include all employee benefits including health, 401K and other offerings.  Work with employees on claims resolution

Performance, Development & Succession

  • Drive clear and consistent performance management processes
  • Develop supervisors and managers with a strong focus on people leadership
  • Support succession planning for key plant and leadership roles

Compliance, Risk & HR Operations

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws across the region
  • Proactively identify and mitigate people-related risks
  • Oversee HR systems, reporting, and data accuracy
  • Work with external resources to determine proper insurance risk coverages for the business

Culture, Engagement & Safety

  • Champion a people-first, safety-focused culture
  • Partner with operations leaders to reinforce safe work practices, incident reporting, claims management and coordination with external resources as required
  • Lead employee engagement and communication initiatives across sites
  • Manage workers’ compensation claims
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly and annual OSHA reporting requirements

Requirements/Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience in manufacturing or industrial environments
  • Experience supporting multiple sites
  • Strong judgment, credibility, and ability to build trust at all levels
  • Willingness and ability to travel regionally approximately 20%

Preferred Qualifications

  • HR experience in extruded plastics, plastics manufacturing, or continuous operations
  • HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR)
  • Experience working in family-owned or privately held organizations
  • Background in change management or leadership development
