Position Summary

The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department. This role assists with recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, performance management, compliance, and HR recordkeeping. The HR Specialist serves as a resource for employees and management while helping ensure company policies and procedures are consistently applied.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Recruitment & Staffing

• Coordinate and support the full-cycle recruitment process.
• Post job openings, screen applications, and schedule interviews.
• Conduct reference and background checks.
• Assist hiring managers with candidate selection and onboarding activities.
• Maintain applicant tracking records and recruiting metrics.
Employee Onboarding & Offboarding
• Coordinate new hire orientation and onboarding programs.
• Prepare and maintain employee personnel files and documentation.
• Process employee status changes, transfers, promotions, and separations.
• Conduct exit interviews and track employee turnover data.

Employee Relations

• Respond to employee questions regarding company policies, benefits, and procedures.
• Assist with resolving employee concerns and workplace issues.
• Promote positive employee engagement and communication.
• Support management in administering corrective action and performance improvement processes.

Benefits & Compensation Administration

• Assist employees with benefits enrollment and related questions.
• Coordinate benefit changes and maintain benefit records.
• Support compensation administration and payroll-related activities.
• Assist with annual open enrollment and benefits communications.

Compliance & Recordkeeping

• Maintain employee records in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies.
• Assist with audits, reporting requirements, and HR documentation.
• Support I-9 verification, E-Verify, and other compliance-related processes.

Training & Development

• Coordinate employee training programs and professional development activities.
• Track training completion and maintain records.
• Assist with performance review administration and employee development initiatives.

General HR Support

• Prepare HR reports, metrics, and presentations.
• Support HR projects and initiatives.
• Maintain confidentiality of employee information and sensitive data.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements/Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • Strong judgment, credibility, and ability to build trust at all levels
  • Willingness and ability to travel regionally approximately 20%

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2–5 years of Human Resources experience preferred.
  •  Experience with recruiting, employee relations, benefits administration, and HR compliance preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
